Press
ToiletRoute is a free directory of public toilet and restroom availability in the US — major chains, transit systems, airports, and public spaces — built from official sources, open data, and moderation-gated community reports. Every factual claim on the site carries an evidence level, and anything we haven't confirmed is labeled as such rather than presented as fact.
Live data pages
- The State of Public Restroom Access — chain access policies, documented vs undocumented, tracked policy changes (e.g. Starbucks 2018→2025), regenerated hourly from live data
- Restroom locations by metro — per-metro coverage with explicit caveats about what the numbers do and don't mean
Ready-to-quote figures
Computed from live data as of 2026-08-20 (UTC) — if you quote these, please include the date.
Of 44 major US chains tracked by ToiletRoute, 28 allow restroom access with no purchase chain-wide, 15 vary by location, and 1 requires a purchase chain-wide.
ToiletRoute tracks 13,903 restroom locations across 41 US metros, sourced from OpenStreetMap, Refuge Restrooms, and city open data, deduplicated on ingest.
ToiletRoute marks every chain fact with an evidence level — 8 of 44 chains are verified against a citable official source with a visible verification date; the rest are labeled unverified rather than presented as confirmed.
